Since her screen debut in 1995 with Saint of Gamblers, this buxom actress has remained a popular fixture in both Hong Kong movies and television -- and it's easy to see why. Pang Dan was born on November 10, 1972 in the Chinese province of Wu Nan. During her childhood, she gained a love for dance and upon her high school graduation in 1987, Pang Dan joined the noted Peking Ballet Dancing Troupe, where she quickly became the group's top dancer. In 1990, Pang Dan moved to America, where she studied at the prestigious Juliard School. During her time in the States, she won the Miss China USA beauty contest, which opened the way to acting jobs upon her return to Hong Kong. After her role in Saint of Gamblers, Pang Dan seemed to be taking over for another curvaceous actress, Amy "Miss Giant Boobs" Yip (who had recently retired from movies), and gained the nickname of "Mystical Breasts." She started working in a series of Category III sex romps like The Imp (1996) and became one of the most bankable stars in the region. Like Amy Yip, Pang Dan never got fully nude in her movie roles -- instead showing just enough to see why she earned her nickname -- and that seems to only have added to her popularity. Ironically, even though she is widely considered to be one of the most beautiful actresses in Hong Kong, she has never been consistently linked to any beau -- much to the chagrin of the fluff-hungry Hong Kong press. In response to this, Pang Dan has said "I'm not looking for good looks or money in a man. Rather, the most important thing to me is that a man be kind hearted." Not wanting to be pigeonholed, Pang Dan moved on to more serious fare such as The HK Triad (1999), as well as comedies like Hong Kong Pie (2000), where she poked fun at her sexpot image. She has also found work as a fashion model, appearing on the covers of various magazines, as well as on television. She recently displayed her dedication to her craft by returing to work shortly after breaking her leg in a car accident (thankfully, the mystical breasts were not hurt at all in the mishap). |
