Sworn to Justice

AKA: Blonde Justice, Blond Justice

1996

Director: Paul Maslak

Stars: Cynthia Rothrock, Tony Lo Bianco, Kurt McKinnney, Mako, Walter Koenig, Brad Dourif

I'm kind of torn on this one -- Sworn to Justice is so goddamn cheesy that it really shouldn't have been put out in the first place (in fact, it was shelved for several years before going straight to video in the US) but, like a White Castle burger at the end of a drunken night, it does its' job in its' own "special" way. If you can get past the unbelievable plot which has Cynthia as a prosecutor who gains psychic powers after a getting a bump on the head (yeah, that's right) and then uses them to get revenge for her slain sister, there's actually a good deal of action in here.

In fact, this is Cynthia's best work outside of a HK movie. The fights are all a bit too short, but they're much better than the stuff in a lot of her other US B-list films. And for all you drooling fanboys, she also shows quite a bit of skin -- not the full points, but there are a few tasty thong shots. The underlying cheeseball factor (Walter Koenig, a.k.a. Chekov from "Star Trek", a.k.a. "I need some money really bad" makes a pathetic appearance in here), below-average acting and ultra-low budget keep me from giving this picture that high of a rating, but if you're into goofy action movies or films that you can poke fun at after a few malted beverages, Sworn to Justice is right up your alley.
