Lethal Enforcers

Lethal Enforcers

This shoot-em-up doesn't really have any HK movie references, but it is interesting to note how one specific part was dealt with between different versions of the game.

In the arcade and Genesis versions of the game, there is a level called "Chinatown Assault".

For the Super Nintendo version, the level name was changed to "Downtown Assault" and any references to Chinese people were removed (note the change of the restaurant name). Nintendo was well-known at this point in time for censoring games, and one might venture that they did this to avoid offending any Asian-Americans -- though the fact that a lot of the enemies in this level still wear "stereotypical" Chinese garb is still puzzling if this indeed was their intent.

A few years ago, a re-vamped version was released for the Playstation. The level went back to its' "Chinatown Assault" name, but note the name on the restaurant. Like the lame Abercrombie and Fitch shirts that came out around this time, it has a dumb "Chinglish" pun.
