Black Spot
1991
Director: Bruce Le
Stars: Bruce Le, Andrea Picoh
This movie suffers from many of the problems that plagued movies of the type during this time: a weak script, a lame plot (Le stars as a Triad who is sent undercover to bust a drug ring), cheap production values and really, really bad acting. To say that this movie scraped the bottom of the barrel for actors is an understatement. I was wishing for the subtle mannerisms of Michael Wong, which should tell you something. Anyway, like most movies of this type, the action saves Black Spot from being a total stinker. It's not good enough to warrant anything but a mild recommendation, but it's not the worst way to spend ninety minutes that you could think of.
