Body Lover does a pretty good job of what ostensibly it sets out to do -- namely, offer up a whole lot of sex and violence. The simple plot concerns an undercover cop (Yiu Ching-Ching) who falls for the girlfriend (Lily Li) of the crime boss he is trying to bust, but that is just really an excuse to get to the next sex or action scene. I would have maybe preferred a bit more bloodshed, since some of the women shown in the "spank fodder" scenes frankly aren't that good-looking. In fact, a couple of them are "triple baggers" -- one for them, one for you, and one for anyone who might walk in (props to Reno 911 -- the only decent comedy currently on American TV, especially compared to steamy piles of poo like *retch* Friends -- for that choice line).
At any rate, the ladies in here are (for the most part) good eye candy. In particular, Julie Lee does a nice take on the "bitchy/sexy" assassin role popularized by Carrie Ng's work in Naked Killer, especially in one scene where she garottes a guy while having sex with him. Also, some of the action sequences are surprisingly good. True, you're not going to mistake the proceedings here for Drunken Master II, but for a movie that is just supposed to inspire your own "fist of fury" rather than actually fighting, the brawls and gunplay were handled very nicely. Body Lover isn't a "great" movie by any means, but it does offer up the platterfulls of boobs and bloodshed that a lot of gweilo Hong Kong film fans (this one included) have come to know and love.
